“I improvise like a bebop jazz musician”

Motta has been painting for over 25 years his graffiti inspired abstract artwork. His latest commission has been with Norton Motorcycles. Music plays a huge role in the process of his painting, no work is ever produced without a soundtrack in the background.

Influences include hip hop, street art and skate culture, Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, Clyfford Still, Franz Kline, Barbara Kruger, John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderly, Miles Davies, the Beastie Boys and more.

Motta is currently exhibiting his new show ‘Abstract Asemic Graffiti in the Neoliberal Age’ at The Beaney, 18 High Street, Canterbury, Kent, CT1 2RA – Sat 13th Sept 2025 – Sun 9th Nov 2025.
